Sing a NEW song!

Hi👋🏾!

Welcome to this spot on the internet. I'm glad you stopped by!

If you've been here before, you know I usually share one of my new Christian songs.

But today I'm sharing my thoughts on what it might really mean to sing a new song to God anyway🤷🏾.

What Does It Mean To Sing a New Song To God?

If someone should ask you to sing a new song, what would come to mind?

New lyrics? Remixed tune?

How about a never-before-heard collaboration?

Although this blog is about sharing my original Christian songs, I must admit that singing a new song doesn't always have to involve "a new song".

Check out my definition of a New Song

A new song is not necessarily a song with lyrics and tune never before released. Rather a new song is one that we sing with fresh appreciation for, and acknowledgement of what God has done, and who He is.

Let me try to illustrate this.

God has been waking us up and causing the sun and rain to come on us (Matthew 5:45) so consistently that they may seem, well…old. To be honest, most of us take it all for granted.

However, each day we take for granted, God is deliberately and consciously choosing to do those same things over and over again.

To God, waking us up never gets old.

To God, causing the sun to shine never gets old.

It may seem monotonous and mundane to us, but to Him, it’s always fresh and always from His heart.

God's mercies are new every morning. (Lamentations 3:22-23)

And that’s how our songs and praise and worship should be towards Him.

When we sing our songs to God, we should always do so with a fresh appreciation for what He has done, and a current consciousness of what He’s doing right now.

When you offer up to God what could be just another song you know, do it with a new awareness of who He is right at that moment.

When the songs we offer up come from the heart, that’s what will make our songs new!

Scriptures About Singing a New Song

Just in case you are wondering, here are some Scripture verses I found that speak of singing a new song to God. (Roll your mouse over the verses and the verse will pop up... gasp...technology 😮🤭)
  1. Psalm 33:2,3
  2. Psalm 40:3
  3. Psalm 144:9
Share in the comments if you come across or know any other Bible verse on the topic.

By the way, which old song have you been singing with new meaning? Let me know in the comments!
